IDENTITY CRISIS - PHINA ORUCHE
Identity Crisis
Written and performed by Phina Oruche-Mariani
Identity Crisis explores one black woman’s identity as told through Phina’s own journey from model to the big and small screens and beyond.
In the voices of a dozen characters she traces the use others have made of her identity and thereby the image of Black Women in the media.
Through live performance, radio waves, photographic image and good old-fashioned storytelling, this hilarious and insightful show looks at what people have taken her image to mean over the years. And how she herself has been inspired to shape her own very particular worldview.
Phina’s travels as an actor have taken her from her native Liverpool to Hollywood and back. Here she is familiar from Radio Merseyside, and for her performance as Liberty Baker in ITV’s Footballers’ Wives, for which she won a Screen Nations Award for Favourite TV Star.
