CULTURAL FOOD FEAST

SATURDAY 25th OCTOBER 2014 – SEFTON PARK PALM HOUSE

The Merseyside Black History Month Group’s Cultural Food Feast promotes the delights of cultural food and entertainment. Sefton Park Palm House has hosted this event since 2004 and more than 30,000 people have attended over the years.

This event proves more successful every year and has given more than 30 local caterers the opportunity to promote their traditional cuisine to a wider audience as well as provide an amazing opportunity to ‘taste’ the diverse cultures that exists in our beloved Liverpool. The programme includes demonstrations, recipes and free, healthy Cultural tasters as well as entertainment from a diverse range of local entertainers.

The event aims to challenge racist attitudes, discrimination and create a sense of community cohesion.

The event will positively promote up to 20 different cultural groups that exist in Liverpool and Merseyside.

It is part of an overall strategy to bring all the major and minor cultural groups together along with the indigenous community to positively promote multi-culturalism and social cohesion.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore the significance of food in different social and cultural contexts and learn how food can contribute to community cohesion.

The Cultural Food Feast includes a range of activites including stalls from sponsors, a range of health activities, children’s activities and of course some fantastic cultural food.

We will publish more details later.

See you on Saturday 25th October from 12.00 pm.
